She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy…

Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone andmake him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date.

…and it’s going to be oh so good

All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.

Rating: 5/5

Review:  When I found out that Elle Kennedy was coming out with a new adult novel I was curious to see how it would turn out. I wasn’t disappointed in the least bit. Sure, the body count was nil in The Deal, but that’s to be expected since it’s about two college students.

Here we meet Hannah Wells, music student with a past she’s trying to overcome, and Garrett Graham, hot hockey star who’s not what everybody believes him to be. Hannah is a survivor and she is determined to not let her past dictate how she lives the rest of her life. Garrett is going to be a pro hockey player and he won’t let anything distract him from his goal, even a woman.

The two become acquainted when Garrett seeks out Hannah’s help in pulling his grade up or risk sitting out the rest of the season’s hockey games. Hannah refuses, but Garrett wears her out with his pushiness. In exchange for helping Garrett get a high grade, he promises to help Hannah win the attention of the guy she wants. They get to know each other and become friends. Things go smoothly between them until Garrett realizes that Hannah deserves more than the guy she thinks wants. He ends up changing his no girlfriend policy to make room for Hannah, while at the same time helping Hannah overcome the scars caused by her trauma.

I like the way Hannah and Garrett’s story was written because their relationship wasn’t forced. Garrett is pushy but in a cute way, and Hannah can’t resist him despite her grumbling. Their dialogues are witty especially when they try to one-up each other. Neither of them come across as victims of their circumstances. Both are strong, and the story gets their characters across. The ending didn’t quite reach the revenge level I would have liked, but I have to remind myself that this is not a Killer Instinct story. I wonder who the next Off-Campus book will be about…

Disclaimer: I received an eGalley of this book from the author/publisher for an honest review.
